The aim of this book is to understand 50 of the main fabrics used in the fashion industry. Fabrics are vital to the fashion industry in being the foundation to support design. A capsule collection based on this understanding is subsequently proposed.

The materials; fibers and fabrics, are imperative to the outcome of a garment. This book documents each fabric's construction, main fibers, weight, uses, hand, aspect, strengths, weaknesses, overall properties and brief history. Images from editorials, lookbooks, e-commerce websites and the runway are used as visual aids. All but a few of these images have been cross-checked for the fabric used in their garments from the brand's respective e-commerce websites.
