One craft that has particularly piqued my interest is weaving. Weaving involves the intricate interlacing of yarns or threads to create stunning fabrics that are both functional and beautiful. My first practical experience in weaving was in 2018, and since then, I have been captivated by the process of creating my own fabrics. From using a homemade handloom to experimenting with an 8-shaft tabletop handloom, every permutation and combination of yarn placement has been an exciting journey of discovery.

As I honed my skills, I realized the endless possibilities that weaving presents to create unique and personalized pieces. It is a craft that requires patience, precision, and creativity, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of weaving my ideas into reality. On this page, I invite you to explore some of my weaving projects that showcase my passion and appreciation for this craft.

Unfinished

This piece was woven on a loom that I constructed from an old canvas frame. Using an assortment of yarn types and weaves, I sought to explore the myriad possibilities that weaving presents.

While this piece may appear unfinished, it is, in fact, a testament to the limitless potential for patterns and combinations of patterns to emerge in woven fabrics. The composition features an unwoven section of warp yarns, untied strands of the weft, and a tapered shape (that is usually considered undesirable) resulting from the interplay of yarn tension.

This piece is an homage to the intricate and nuanced process of weaving by hand, and highlights the beauty of the craft.

SF

This piece was woven on an 8-shaft tabletop loom with indigo-dyed cotton yarn. It is an interpretation of the SF Dyes logo. The loom not being a jacquard loom didn’t allow for the the logo in its original form to be woven as a fabric, hence elements of the logo are woven considering the looms parameters.

Finamore

This piece was woven on an 8-shaft tabletop loom with 20/2 indigo-dyed cotton yarn. I created a pattern to resemble Finamore’s logo to produce a fabric proposal for their iconic Napoli shirts. Playing with the orientation and spacing of the pattern led to a striped variation of the motif.

SAMPLE PIECE

This piece was woven on an 8-shaft tabletop loom with indigo-dyed cotton yarn. This was my first experimental project on an 8-shaft loom where I sought to understand the various weave possibilities on a straight draft. The final piece consisted of approximately 30 weaves of 1 inch each.
